“It’s a long story that you slam into one righteous move of your gavel. And you would have to actually care about me to understand.”

THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED
Motus Theater is bringing JustUs: Stories From the Frontlines of the Criminal Justice System to the Colorado State House as part of the national Day of Empathy, a day dedicated to the mobilization of impacted individuals and organizations to speak directly with legislators across the United States.
JustUs is a Motus Theater performance of autobiographical monologues by formerly incarcerated people about the impact of the criminal justice system on their lives. The monologues are interwoven with powerful music by live vocalists.
On March 20th at 9:00 a.m., in collaboration with the office of Representative Leslie Herod, one Motus Theater JustUs monologist will present an artfully crafted autobiographical monologue in the House Gallery at the Colorado State Capitol. The presentation will feature musical response by renowned jazz singer, Robert Johnson, and is free and open to the public.
In a subsequent private event, Rep. Herod's office will host a luncheon for Colorado State Officials. During this event, six JustUs monologists will share their stories with Colorado lawmakers - an act which will incite strategic connections, moving the stories from personal experiences to examples of the human consequences of the criminal justice system.
Two JustUs monologues will be presented at the Conference of World Affairs in Boulder on April 6th at 4pm. A public presentation of the full JustUs: Stories From the Frontlines of the Criminal Justice System will be coming to Denver in Spring 2020 - more details to come!
