About Motus Playback Improv Theater

Motus Theater invites you to a special adventure of improvisational theater where audience members share a short reflection or a story from their lives, and then watch a diverse group of professional improv actors enact these stories on the spot using movement, music, and dramatic spoken word. The stories may be funny or sad; memories from long ago or yesterday. The audience and performers co-create a theater event whose subject is the life experiences of the people attending the show.

Check out the Motus event page or below for our next Playback show, and join Motus for an abundant exchange interconnecting our shared humanity through music, story, poetry, and improv theater.

Upcoming Playback Events

Book a Playback Performance

Motus is booked for pure entertainment or to tackle community conversations on difficult issues of our time. We have performed to share stories from birthday and retirement parties or to entertain school children. We have performed at events to commemorate painful or even traumatic community events like the Boulder County Flood, so we can cry, laugh, and heal together to build resilience. Playback has even been used to support community dialogue on divisive issues such as different perspectives on gun control, the Palestinian and Israeli war, or restorative justice.
