Motus Theater presents the Boulder County premiere of JustUs (Unplugged): Stories From the Frontlines of the Criminal Justice System. This “Unplugged” performance features seven people who were formerly incarcerated telling autobiographical stories about the damage done in the name of justice. Music by jazz great Robert Johnson and pianist Adam Bodine.
The autobiographical stories were created in a 16-week collaborative process between Motus Theater’s Artistic Director, Kirsten Wilson, and Astro Allison, Dereck Bell, Cierra Brock, Brian Lynch, Daniel Guillory, Juaquin Mobley, and Brandon Wainright. These stories present impactful depictions of the consequences of incarceration, and the injustice within the criminal justice system (both behind bars and beyond) with the goal of inspiring, informing, and engaging audiences in the need to restore justice to the criminal justice system itself.
JustUs premiered at the 2019 National Association of Community and Restorative Justice Conference in Denver, in front of 1,600 people.
