On Thursday, April 13th, join Motus Theater for a special free UndocuAmerica performance and reception as part of the opening of Motus & Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art’s first collaborative exhibition featuring visual art by Cindy Loya, and performances by UndocuAmerica monologists Cristian Solano-Córdova and Kiara Chavez, and musical response by Spirit of Grace, of Flobots fame.
The reception starts at 6:00 PM; the performance will begin at 7:00 PM. (A second exhibition featuring artist Victor Escobedo’s work will open at BMoCA in May).
This exhibition was created in response to the defacing of outdoor murals featuring Motus’ UndocuAmerica monologists that were installed across Denver and Boulder in 2022.
At the exhibition, in addition to Cindy Loya and Victor Escobedo’s art, Motus Theater is presenting images of the original murals on postcards, each with a QR code linking to videos of the UndocuAmerica monologist telling their personal story. You can be part of this healing response by mailing the UndocuAmerica stories to your family, friends, and neighbors!
The exhibition and community postcard mailing affirms community power with the message that, when community members get hurt, we have the opportunity and the responsibility to coalesce, heal, and come back stronger.
We hope to see you at the reception and performance at BMoCA!
