UndocuMonologues: Stories from our Undocumented Neighbors at 2021 Rothgerber Conference

  • via Zoom Boulder, CO (map)

In collaboration with the 29th annual Ira C. Rothgerber Conference, "Pursuing Citizenship," Motus Theater’s undocumented monologists invite you, via Zoom, into their homes to share autobiographical stories about their dreams, hopes and fears. Their artfully crafted monologues interrupt the dehumanizing and racist anti-immigrant narratives around our nation and challenge people to acknowledge the danger to us all from the current threats facing the undocumented community, and take action.

Special guest Honorable Mimi Tsankov, National Association of Immigration Judges, will express moral courage and civic hospitality as she reads aloud the story of an undocumented person and reflects on seeing the world through the eyes of an immigrant. Two additional Motus UndocuMonologists will share their own story and each monologue will be followed by a musical response from Uruguayan musician Elisa Garcia.

Sponsored by the University of Colorado Boulder’s Byron White Center.

Autobiographical monologues by Motus Monologists Armando Peniche, Cristian Solano Córdova, and Alejandro Fuentes Mena written in collaboration with Motus Theater Artistic Director, Kirsten Wilson. Performance presented by Motus Theater - creators of UndocuAmerica, JustUs, Women of Resolution, Rocks Karma Arrows, and the Shoebox Stories Podcast.
