Women of Resolution with the Episcopal Church in Colorado’s Race Task Force

RSVP to attend an intimate virtual reading of Motus Theater’s Women of Resolution featuring Episcopal Bishop of Colorado, Kym Lucas; Lutheran minister and public theologian, Nadia Bolz-Weber; author and national lecturer, Celene Lillie; and Colorado State House Representative, Leslie Herod. Featuring acapella soloist, Teresita Lozano.

Women of Resolution shares the autobiographical stories of Araceli Velasquez, Ingrid Encalada Latorre, Rosa Sabido, and Sandra Lopez - four women who sought sanctuary to prevent being deported and separated from their families. Scripted by Kirsten Wilson based on interviews recorded by Joel Dyer and Motus staff. With photos by Joel Dyer.

This performance is part of Motus Theater’s Shoebox Stories project and our Welcoming the Stranger series - a collaboration with faith leaders who express moral courage and civic hospitality as they read aloud the story of an undocumented person and reflect personally and theologically on seeing the world through the eyes of an immigrant.

Sponsored by the Episcopal Church in Colorado’s Race Task Force and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Motus Theater is working creatively to meet the needs of people to connect meaningfully while honoring Safer-at-Home practices during the pandemic, and to find ways of reflecting on the ongoing challenges facing our community and democracy.

“I’m not a criminal. I’m not doing anything wrong. I don’t have a legal paper, but I don’t need a legal paper to stay with the kids. I’m a mother. I don’t need that.”
